The new headquarters of the state library is located on the previous grounds of the Ibero-American Exposition and was commissioned by the Directorate General for Books, Archives and Libraries of the Ministry of Culture. The building occupies the center of the site because it is unique and therefore isolated from the surrounding buildings. Being unique, the library focuses on its own interior composition with a setback from the street and subsequent covering of trees. The building collapses in upon itself creating a southern patio that allows for views that cross to create a unity among the four wings that define the library. The facades reflect the internal development and are modulated with large holes allowing natural light and views. The building is divided into 3 areas consisting of the main central connection, the adult āLā section, and the southern children’s section.
